Call me lame...

...but I am totally sad about Heath Ledger's death.

What Andrew Means

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row.
You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace.
People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are very charming... dangerously so. You have the potential to break a lot of hearts.
You know how what you want, how to get it, and that you will get it.
You have the power to rule the world. Let's hope you're a benevolent dictator!

Ok.

I am making a friends only journal and honestly, ALOT of you are not going to be on it.

In the mean time, here is a pic from Rasputina. More to come, of course.

Update time!

So the other night I went to RASPUTINA with Lauren! It was simply AMAZING! We got a shit load of merch, saw a great show, met the band (second time for me) and got autographs!

I don't have alot of time on my hands at the moment, but when I get a chance I will expand the datails and even post pics from Rasputina AND the Oregon Country Fair!

Until then!

At the Oregon Country Fair

Yesterday I went to the Oregon Country Fair with Lauren. It was awesome. The area was beautiful, the people were friendly and overflowing with a variety of cultures, and everywhere you looked there was something fun to see. There were people dressed up as faeries, there were leather masque shops, tofu stands, gem shops, musicians left and right playing all kinds of music, partially naked people (most of which were gross women who had no business walking around topless), and the list goes on. We sat down for maybe 10 minutes max to eat and such, but for the rest of the day we were non-stop walking from about 8:00am to 6:00pm, so... pretty much walking for about 10 hours. Needless to say it did quite a number on my legs, but although they are sore they feel GREAT. The thing about it is that the overall vibe there was peaceful and not any bit of it felt hostile or rushed. I can't wait to go again next year!

Lots of stuff went on this week, I have realized! Now on to my eagerly anticipated event taking place tomorrow!!

Body Worlds

Today was an utterly amazing day to be sure!
I slept over at Lauren's last night so we could wake up early enough to get to Body Worlds on time at 11:30 (which, for us being night owls and all, was a difficult task for sure). The exhibit had me in awe from beginning to end. We even back tracked to take one more look. There were so many examples of the human body that showed the muscle tissue, fascia, bones, organs, arteries, nerves and more. Most of the bodies were in a display case of sorts, but some were also completely uncovered and just DARED to be touched. I got ridiculously close to one of them to the point where I probably could have kissed it, but I behaved myself of course. I remember being moved by a sliced part of a brain placed up against a light so you could see all the veins and tissue and so on and I just had to think about how simple looking of an organ it is yet how many endless memories and dreams must have been trapped within it. It was simply magical.
Unfortunately, photography was not allowed, but I found this picture of one of the displays I saw there:

They looked so unreal and so much like wax sculptures that I had to keep on reminding myself that they were once real living people.
I will remember this day for the rest of my life, I'm sure.

If you have an extra $21 to spend, I can't think of a better way to spend it. It is worth every last penny. It is going on until October, so if you live in my area you have no excuse not to go.

Hurrah for science!!

Miss Lauren is going to be taking me to the Body Worlds 3 exhibition at the Omsi museum! I AM SO EXCITED I CAN HARDLY CONTAIN IT!

For those of you who don't know what the Body Worlds exhibition is, it is a WONDERFUL display of real cadavers preserved using plastination and then posed in intensely abstract and artistic ways to best show and educate about human anatomy! SO cool!

This heatwave we have been having as of recently has been almost too much to bear. I actually walk around with a parasol to give myself a bit of extra shade.

I have been pretty busy for the most part. I work a whole lot and most of my freetime is spent having fun with Lauren. We saw Pirates III together a few days ago and regardless of the cruel reviews that it got, she and I had alot of fun and thought the movie was awesome. Unfortunately we wern't able to see it the day it opened because I had to work, but oh well. I also missed Skinny Puppy that same day, but I am not TOO upset because I have seen them once before.

This next season I hope to save up enough to take a class in phlebotomy. I figure blood doesn't really bother me at all, the course is pretty affordable, the pay is good and it is something I could see myself doing for a career.

I have recently been reading this book by Mary Roach:

It is a very fun and interesting book to be sure. Full of facinating information and darkly witty jokes. I highly reccomend it.

A Very Merry Unbirthday!!

Today wasn't starting out all that great so I decided to make it better by throwing an unbirthday party. I gave her a Tori Amos album that she has been wanting, we got a VERY lovely raspberry cake with frosting flowers everywhere, we drank some tea, we played Bauldor's Gate II and we got our septums pierced. Mine a second time now. It was so much fun!

On antoher note, we visited with Alex the other day and it was awesome. I miss that fella so much. He has been going through way more stress than he deserves. His father too. I hope he finally moves back soon. In the woods out in the middle of nowhere is no place for a flamboyant minded man like him.

...and one more thing. Apocolypto was SO awesome.

I have an obsession

I am obsessed with Alice in Wonderland stuff. Through the Looking Glass too of course.
I have been starting up a collection. So far I have The Complete Works of Lewis Carroll, Old 1946 editions of Wonderland and Looking Glass, a tea cup that I have been taking my tea with every day, plush dolls of Alice and the Cheshire cat, an Alice in wonderland tshirt that I cut up and sewed onto another shirt, a special 2 disc edition of the Disney movie, the made for tv version of the movie, and a brittish made for tv version of Looking Glass starring Kate Beckinsale. Just yesterday, a certain someone got me this BEAUTIFUL snowglobe from the disney store that plays the Unbirthday song. SO awesome.

So if any of you guys have any Alice in Wonderland stuff that you don't want anymore, you know who to inform ;)

FUCK off!

I mean this sincerely when I say FUCK YOU to all you bastard fair-wheather friends. Sorry I'm not fashionable to you anymore.

You are fake, drama-obsessed, ignorant, shallow and selfish worms who can't hear or see anything unless it has a pretty face or unless you can benifit from it.

For the first time in a LONG time I feel happy and true to myself. I am finally taking measures to actually do something with my life. I overpowered my obstacles and have set new ones to overcome and I feel so fucking proud that I am finally taking control of my life. What I did was very fucking hard and took alot out of me, but I fucking did it. If you can't realize that and be happy for me, then you can get butt-fucked with a chainsaw.

I feel cleansed and refreshed to be rid of you.

Just so you all know, I am doing just fine.
Better than I have been in a VERY long time.

I have had enough.

A dramatic change needs to be made.

Hello!

For the past two months or so now I have been drinking tea like a madman. I have tea with every meal and I always have tea at noon. There is nothing quite like a nice cup of tea...

Violins, cellos, harps, pipe organs, flutes, harpsichords and instruments of the like have commonly been visiting my musical diet these days. I suppose I have just felt like kicking it old school as of recently. It's nice.

I have been asked to play keyboards for a band called The Red King:

He has a show next month and wants me to play with him. I am leaning towards yes, but then what on earth will I wear?

I just got done being sick for four days with a horrid cold that I received from my little brother Colvin while visiting my mother. I had to go to work and cover my face with a tissue the whole time, I was so bad. A nice family dropped of a bag full of cold medicine, tissues, and nasal spray after I had left and I got to use it the next day! I was still sick, but at least I was cheery!

I got to show my mother Tori Amos and she loves her. She even got three of her albums that same day!

R and R

Sorry it's been a while!
I have been keeping myself rather busy these days with work and painting and writing music and so on. I have also been watching alot of old black and white movies from the 1930's-50's and I am in love with almost every single one of them. I am not too big of a fan of the 60's movies because that is when everything went all malibu barbie, in my opinion. The Thin Man is one of my current favorites. I don't think there is quite as cute of a couple as William Powell and Myrna Loy in that movie.
Angela and I recently got accounts on dita.net and have been having fun with that. We got eachother signed copies of Dita's book as well as a poster and I got her a Dita shirt.
Listening to alot of old timey music from the 1930's great depression era. Just bought the O' Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack as a matter of fact. Portishead has been a continuing appearance in my musical diet as well. I just got a pirated version of the new Skinny Puppy album and although it is VERY VERY different from anything they have done before, I eagerly anticipate it's release so I can own an actual copy!

I saw Pan's Labyrinth and it was one of the most wonderful movies ever!
Spoilers )

And that is all I have to say for now!

Tue, Jan. 23rd, 2007, 01:13 am

I almost forgot how moving Portishead is.

Her voice just breaks my heart so...

I am the geek master!!

So my friend Alex and I used to start collections together. For instance, between him and I, we now own ever single last Ren and Stimpy comic.
Years ago we tried to collect Castlevania games. But we grew up, didn't have any money OR any time to worry about video games and so on and pretty much just kind of forgot about the whole thing.
I bought three Castlevania games recently though and after I realized how many we had, I wrote him a letter, and now we are back to business.
This is JUST what we need in order to keep our friendship busy while both being so far away without any means of communication other than snail mail.

Here is our checklist so far: )
